![]() But we got PD2 and other mods so there's nothing stopping us all from enjoying these and not supporting Blizzards decision. The mod support is absolutely disappointing and I get the backlash there. Apparently a lot of people expected different and I never understood that. Their only move was to strictly make the game the way it was so they can just say "that's the way it was". That on the blizzard scale would be stupid. The week before the season this sub was filled with long winded posts about how dumb it was. You see it here, take the whirlwind change last season. ![]() They would shit a brick at the balancing changes here, or really any attempt at it. Hell, people here still want that (I don't know why). They want enigma to be worn by nearly everyone. People are paying for nostalgia, they want to roll 3 sorcs and a hammer paladin. Making a rerelease of such a classic game is a no win situation in that regard. ![]() I can't believe anyone would want their team to try it. Honestly you don’t even need much courage if you create a separate mode for LoD classic.īlizzard doing any sort of balancing changes to D2 would have been an utter disaster. I think D2:R could have had me onboard had they had a little bit of courage to introduce some changes as Blizz North has done over the 10 years they were maintaining diablo2 (things like synergies, respecs, etc). Is easily countered with "why cant you just keep playing PD2" I’m never going to want to play patch 1.0a, unless i had some strong nostalgic desire If i want to enjoy improvements on the base game I’ll want to play something that develops on the original vision of the game. If i want to enjoy classic diablo for nostalgic purposes, and every once in awhile i do, I’ll want to play d2 classic unmodded on the original client where everything looks and feels exactly the same. My argument is that purists that are so desperate for no changes or additions would surely find LoD or d2 classic be their best bet, as there literally are no changes. So i don't see the point, purists can load up original LoD, that way they get even more nostalgic with the same graphics as they're used to.īut your argument is weak "why cant purists just play LOD" Lastly, Diablo was never about the graphics, and honestly after playing the game for an hour you forget you're playing a game with dated graphics anyways. I have full faith in the Project Diablo 2 team to deliver even higher quality content given more resources and assets. Microsoft has done this in the past with AoE2, and their AoE2 definitive edition, and that was better than all their other remasters for their other games. Frankly if I was a blizzard exec and i didn't have confidence in my team to develop improvements over d2, I would have just hired the entire project diablo 2 team and had them heavily involved. ![]() If pissing off the purists was such a concern, why not just create a vanilla game mode for them - similar to how classic and LoD currently co-exist peacefully. I understand there will be purists who want absolutely no changes and that's some of their justification to avoid making changes, but really i think they're just being too risk averse and looking for a quick money grab without expending too much effort. It seems like it's just a nice layer of paint for $40 - the modding community set the bar so high, and d2 res fails to even come close to hitting that bar. They've done so many new gameplay improvements and content, to a quality matching what the OG Blizz North team has put out, things from QoL, new items, new skills, smart balancing, new areas, so many improvements - so i'm thoroughly thoroughly impressed by the work they have done.īut that brings us to D2 Resurrected, knowing that a small unpaid modder team was able to accomplish all of this, i'm quite disappointed with what d2 resurrected has to offer. I’m currently doing a Diablo 2 solo run and while I’m happy to be playing the game it definitely is a inferior experience, which may turn you off the game.Įdit: I also personally find the D2 class system worse then D3’s, idk, it’s weird, so maybe try to look further into the classes before making your choice, meta builds are almost never fun for me personally but maybe you’d enjoy it.After playing Project Diablo 2, I am thoroughly impressed. I do believe that D2 Resurrected is worth it, but you may want to explore multi-player options as that makes progression much easier and just more enjoyable in my personal opinion across the entire series. I’ve always found D3 incredibly easy comparative to older titles even on much higher difficulties and only really enjoy it when playing with family / friends, but D2 can also have a enjoyment halting grind and moves incredibly slowly, I enjoy both. Short Answer: Yes, it’s a great remaster of a very good game.ĭ2 and D3 are very different experiences. Last updated at 14:00:17 UTC Weekly Help Desk RAGE Loot Thread Trade Thread ![]()
